For RS-485 data bus networks, this device is a half-duplex transceiver. It completely complies with the TIA/EIA-485A standard and is powered by a 5-V supply. This device is appropriate for signaling rates up to 200 kbps over lengthy twisted-pair lines since it has controlled output transition periods. Typically less than 0.6 mA, exclusive of the load, is the minimum supply current required for the device to operate. These devices are perfect for power-sensitive applications since, while in the inactive shutdown mode, the supply current lowers to a few nanoamps.
These devices are suitable for challenging applications like energy meter networks, electrical inverters, status/command signals across telecom racks, cabled chassis interconnects, and industrial automation networks where noise tolerance is crucial. These devices also have a wide common-mode range and high ESD protection levels. The industry-standard footprint of the SN75176 is matched by the VP3082. Up until the supply voltage has stabilized, the outputs are in a high-impedence state thanks to power-on reset circuits.
