The MT8870 DTMF Decoder Module is a small module based on the MT8870 DTMF decoder IC. A 3.5mm audio connector is provided for connecting an audio source to the module. The audio source's DTMF signal is decoded, and the module's digital outputs indicate which key was pressed. You can connect a phone to the module, and the module will emit the key pressed on the audio source (0-9, *, #, A, B, C, or D). This module can be used in modems, mobile radios, and other DTMF-related applications. It may be used to create mobile-controlled robots, home automation projects, and IVR-style applications, among other things.
This MT8870 DTMF Decoder Module is suitable for incorporating DTMF (dual tone multi-frequency) decoding into your project. This detecting module decodes the incoming tone and outputs a coded signal that may be used with a variety of microcontrollers.
The MITEL firm invented the MT8870 Tone Decoder, which is a type of widely used multi-frequency decode IC. It's a full-featured DTMF receiver. After receiving the DTMF signal, it divides it into high-frequency and low-frequency groups before sending it to the digital decoder, which determines the key-value and sends it to the outside Bus through four lines (Q1, Q2, Q3, Q4) in binary form.
