The GSR Skin Sensor Module is a biosensor designed to measure the skin's electrical conductance, known as Galvanic Skin Response (GSR). This sensor can monitor changes in conductance due to factors like stress, emotions, or other physiological conditions. Its uses are varied, with applications in lie detection, human-computer interaction, and stress monitoring.
The module comes in Analog, SPI, and 3.3V/5V versions, making it versatile for systems operating on either 3.3V or 5V, and capable of communicating with microcontrollers through the SPI protocol. Its compact size allows it to be integrated into many projects.
The sensor's working principle relies on the fact that skin conductance changes based on sweat production, which is affected by emotional or physical arousal. Therefore, by monitoring conductance, itโs possible to gain insights into emotional or physiological changes. This makes the GSR sensor useful for research and testing applications, including polygraph tests, based on Electrodermal Activity (EDA) responses.
